In keeping with our Chapter’s tradition, we held our April meeting at the Clinic. After a tour led by Dr. Wilhelm, we received a presentation from Annie Cue, Director of Child and Adolescent Counseling Services, who gave our members a
touching overview of the wonderful work taking place in her department.
Another yearly Chapter highlight in April is the selection of a Wheaton high school senior to receive a scholarship funded through a special collection by Chapter members. This year, we were fortunate to receive an anonymous additional donation designated to fund a second award enabling us to honor two students who have exhibited outstanding community service during their high school careers. Our 2010 award recipients are: Hannah Farnsworth from Wheaton North and Maeve Gallagher from Wheaton Warrenville South High Schools. We extend our thanks to our Scholarship Committee members: Lynda Lessek, Nita DeCanniere, Mary Plepel and Lanie Munzing.
In May, Kathy McKenna planned a delightful 
end-of-the-year dinner that was held at
the Ivy Restaurant in Wheaton. During the evening,we welcomed our new President,
Sue Parrilli, and it was also a special joy to be joined by Mrs. Mary Beth White,
a founding member of the Wheaton Chapter over 50 years ago! As their service terms
have ended, we also wish to give special thanks to the following Board members for
their dedication for the past two years: Elaine Luse, President; Grace Chen, Ways
& Means Chairman and Dorne McLuckie, Volunteer Chairman.

Our Chapter was delighted to co-sponsor our first-ever “GardenScapes” event in conjunction with the Lisle/Naperville Chapter. The event took place on June 25 and 26. Our Committee members worked diligently to create a fantastic garden walk for our guests. Four exquisite area gardens were featured. We found the beauty of these gardens to be inspirational, and we enjoyed welcoming new
friends and supporters to this exciting two-day event. We anticipate this will become an annual fundraiser.
Our 12th Annual Playing ‘Fore’ the Kids golf outing and lunch is scheduled for Thursday, September 9th at Prairie Landing Golf Club. Please gather your friends and plan to join us for what is always a fun “scramble” outing!
