Supporting a tradition of visionary care since 1913

The Hinsdale Chapter had a very busy and fun few months preparing for Tablescapes. We held our pre-event dinner on March 2nd at Ditka’s where we broke bread and celebrated our hard work in planning our major fundraiser of the year.  The next day, the Westin opened its doors to our 450 guests who were greeted with a blaze of color and creativity thanks to our talented members who designed 8 elegant, fun and festive tabletops.  This year, we introduced fashion into our fundraising equation with a presentation by Tracey Tarantino and Zzazz Productions.  It was wonderful, and our members enjoyed this exciting addition to the day’s offerings.

If the theme of the day was about color, the sentiment was about a birthday – the Auxiliary’s 100th to be precise.  In honor of the occasion, there was a birthday cake generously donated by Sue Liss of Cupcake Creations.  In her comments from the podium, Chapter President Dee Koffron talked about the significance of the centennial.

We are thrilled to report that we raised $85,000 at Tablescapes 2013!  We want to thank our fellow Auxiliary members, guests, volunteers, donors, sponsors and friends who supported the fundraiser in so many ways.  In particular, we want to acknowledge the dedicated members of the Hinsdale Chapter who always rise to the occasion!

The Hinsdale Chapter was well represented at the second event in the Auxiliary’s centennial year, the 100th Birthday Party at the Lake Forest Showhouse & Gardens on May 1st.  The weather was perfect, and we enjoyed our tour of the Showhouse and Monica Pedersen’s terrific presentation.

In keeping with a ten-year tradition, our members assembled 400 Mother’s Day gift bags for IWS patients.  We send our sincere thanks to Gail Daly who allowed us to use her home to organize the project.  From all reports, moms at the Clinic were happy to receive the gift bags filled with cosmetics and other great items.

In other news, the Hinsdale Chapter was thrilled to be selected by Classic Kids Photography in Hinsdale for its “Rock Your Tutu” campaign. The studio generously donated the sitting fee for “ballerinas/superheroes” to the Infant Welfare Society.  We also appreciate the support of those who took their children to Classic Kids for some terrific “photo ops.”  We thank Andrea Dollens for enabling us to take part in this exciting fundraiser.

We are delighted to announce our 2013/2014 Board:  Co-Presidents, Elaine Davis and Lisa Harvey; First Vice Presidents, Amy Bailey and Kathleen Phillips; Second Vice President, Julia Wade; Third Vice President, Dee Koffron; Treasurer, Amanda Miller; Recording Secretary, Susan Nelson; Corresponding Secretary, Wendy Niesen; Membership Chairmen, Debi Kisluk and Cynthia Scholl; Publicity Chairman, Amy Bailey; Special Projects, Amy Owens; Social Chairmen:  Donna DeCaigny and Kelley Pohl and Event Chairmen, Betsy Elman, Lauren Goodwin and Kathleen Phillips.

Last, our members send a huge thank you to our outgoing Chapter President Dee Koffron.  Dee was hardworking, supportive, enthusiastic and energetic, and we are so fortunate to have had her leadership the past two years!

Wheaton Chapter member Char Connell and her sister, Leslie Cirko, enjoyed their Tablescapes experience. For the past ten years, our Chapter has donated Mother’s Day gift bags for moms at the Clinic. Ellen Hoobyar and Donna DeCaigny helped to assemble them during a recent meeting.

Dee Koffron posed for a photo at Tablescapes with Auxiliary President Lynette Paulsen.  Our 100th birthday cake was donated by Sue List of Cupcake Creations.
