a healthy child

While many health clinics treat only the physical well-being of patients, IWS goes a step further to evaluate and care for the psychological and emotional health of the families we serve.
For many patients, IWS is their first exposure to mental health services. Although inaccessibility to bilingual therapists or a reluctance to seek help may have prevented many patients from seeking out counseling, many patients follow through at IWS because of the support they receive from our Family Services staff.
The IWS Family Services Department is staffed with therapists bilingual in Spanish and/or Polish who provide individual, family and group therapy, and case management. Services are provided in the clinic, in schools and in homes, as determined by individual needs and concerns.
All IWS therapists have master’s degrees and are prepared with a focus on mental health and therapeutic interventions. Each patient and family completes a thorough assessment to ensure all service needs are addressed. The Family Services Department also offers psychiatry services for children requiring medications.
