Our Chapter had a very busy summer. We held an event at the Jewel in Barrington on July 22nd to benefit IWS’ Child Development & Support Services area. Shoppers were given a list of items to purchase for infants at the Clinic. We’re very happy to report that Barrington residents were not only happy to contribute, but they were also extremely generous with their monetary donations. We are proud to announce that we received well over $4,000 in donated items.
On November 4th – 16th, our Chapter is sponsoring a coat drive in conjunction with CD One Price Cleaners. We encourage the entire Auxiliary, their families and friends, to donate their gently used coats. With many locations in the Chicago area, we’re confident that all of our Auxiliary members will find a CD One Cleaners in close proximity to their homes. CD One will dry clean the coats, place them on hangers, bag them and place them on a rack for pick up. Auxiliary volunteers will transport them to the Clinic. Milagros Fernandez, the Clinic’s Director of Child Development & Support Services and her staff, will identify patients in need of winter coats, and the coats will be distributed to those patients in late November.
We thank our President, Celeste Jackson, who conceived of the idea and who has worked closely with the Auxiliary’s Executive Board and the Clinic in coordinating arrangements for the drive. We hope that all our fellow Chapters and members will consider donating their winter coats to ensure our patients stay warm as the cold weather approaches.
In other news, we are in the planning stages for our upcoming “Celebrate The Season” event scheduled for December 9th. Save the date on your calendar for this great holiday event!
